Cloud computing… keeping you active and flexible

22 September 2020 7:05 AM

If you think we’re going to get technical here, be reassured we’re not. And if you’re a focused and dedicated nursery manager who secretly fears all that ‘techie stuff’, you’ll be relieved and surprised to know you’re probably already using the cloud. Gmail, Office 365, Dropbox, not forgetting social media… they’re all cloud based, and bloomin’ handy because of it. Wherever you are, as long as you can get onto the internet, you can access that stuff.

So if you now think of cloud computing from that perspective, using a cloud based nursery management system to run your nursery starts to sound very convenient and easy, eh?

Facing up to uncertainty with flexibility

With all that’s happening at the moment, having the ability to access your operations, processes, and communications from anywhere is key.

Take the threat of a request to self-isolate, for example. You, the nursery manager, get a call from Track & Trace to say you’ve been in contact with a positive case. You have to self-isolate. You feel as fit as a flea, no symptoms, but you can’t now go into the nursery. Your staff can keep going in, it’s just you who can’t.

You’re going to want to keep working, though, aren’t you? Well, with cloud based nursery management software that can be a reality. You can take your laptop home, connect it to the internet, log in to your application… and keep going. In fact, it’s a great opportunity to go over some of those stats you’ve been meaning to review, or run a few new reports to see how your nursery looks from different angles.

And the same goes for your authorised staff too. If they have to work from home for 14 days, they too can log in, review some of their admin, and update their records etc. They can still be a valuable asset to your operation even if they can’t be on site.

Cost-effective software with extra benefits

But though all we’ve described above is very practical, there are actually some significant other benefits to cloud based software too; think financial, technical, legal, and logistical.

  • You don’t need to invest in expensive servers to host your nursery management software, and you don’t need to pay the cost of maintaining those servers in addition to applications you’re using.
  • The ease of communication it fosters increases the number of positive touch points you can have with parents, employees, suppliers, and community contacts.
  • Automatic updates can be deployed by your software supplier without your input or presence. And they can provide maintenance and support remotely too, which makes it easy for everyone.
  • Data is securely stored to ensure you meet all GDPR and other regulatory data requirements.
  • Reporting works with real-time information to give you an accurate picture of your current position.
  • In the event of PC hardware failure in your office… all your information is still stored safely and accessibly online.

If the benefits of a cloud based nursery management system now feel a bit more about practical flexibility, business continuity, and cost-effective agility… and a lot less about technical smoke and mirrors jargon… please give us a ring. We’ve designed it just for you!
